These Bulletin Board Forums are pretty extensive.  Typically they allow categories, various user groups, member registrations (restricted or open), membership fees if desired.  All allow postings in Threads with notification options on replies or new threads. If you're not familiar with these programs, they much like going to a party.  Different conversations are going on and you can choose to interact with some and not others.  There are always new ones started in various groups.  Most if now all run on what is referred to as .php with a MySQL database on Linux Apache Servers (as do we)... which is fast and easier.  Windows servers are available under a special setup package.

Many add-ons available if they are not included, like calendars, chat rooms, limited photo gallaries.
